TRANSYS OYSTERCARD IDENTITY

  • TASK

There was a time before automatic train ticket barriers existed. I was invited by Transys, as part of a 3 way pitch to create an identity for the un-named automatic ticket barrier system. Although I was pitching against fully fledged full-service agencies, my initial creative work won the project. My work later evolved into one of the most recognisable logos in Central London - the Oyster Card.
  • SOLUTION

The details of the system were sketchy other than it would a card with a chip that passed over a disc based reader. The mark had to be a universally recognised icon that was understood by locals and vistors alike. The end result was exactly that - a dynamic abstracted disc reader with card.
