Bee Midtown: Identity

Designed @ The Hoxby Collective

Task
BEE BID (Business Improvement District) covers the Holborn, Bloomsbury St Giles, Farringdon & Clerkenwell areas of London.  They bring the people and businesses of Midtown together to drive long-term, sustainable, commercial and social growth.

 

I was the Creative Director for The Hoxby Collective in creating new identities for both the BEE and Midtown brands.

Solution
Taking inspiration from the BEE name and history, a hexagonal grid was used as the foundation for the new BEE brand look and feel.

 

This same grid was used to create a word mark that was deliberately bold, unexpected and recognisable. An open-source approach was taken which allows the word mark to be filled with textures and colours to surprise and delight the viewer.
